As a central feature of this course, students will learn to meet the care and comfort needs of clients with a diagnosis of dementia. They will also learn about care strategies for assisting other diverse client groups, such as clients with a mental health diagnosis and clients with developmental delays and physical disabilities. Because health care aides employed by home care agencies may be required to provide care for infants and children, as well as caring for clients living with life-limiting illness and those who require hospice, palliative, or end-of-life care, this course also provides the information and skills needed to assist with these care assignments. Students must take HLTH 2016 (Meeting Complex Care Needs) prior to or at the same time as this course.
Skill Level: Beginner
