This course focuses on the roles and responsibilities of a health care aide working in a variety of employment settings. Learners will acquire the skills to provide person-centred care that is safe, respectful, and based on the needs of the client. To meet the goals of person-centred care, learners will become familiar with the provincial legislation that guides safe, ethical, and personalized care. In addition, they will learn to work as part of the health-care team and how to follow employers� policies and procedures within the scope of the health care aide job description. The health care aide is responsible for identifying, managing, and preventing potential environmental hazards in facilities and community-based settings, and must focus on the safety of the client as well as their own personal safety in different settings.
